John P. Novak, Organist and Minister of Music
John Novak has served as the Organist and Minster of Music at UPC since September of 2005. John also serves as the middle and high school vocal music teacher at Letchworth Central School in Gainesville, NY. John has studied organ with Jonathan Biggers and Judy Congdon and holds degrees from Binghamton University (Master of Music in organ performance) and Houghton College (Bachelor of Music in Music Education). Before coming to UPC, John most recently served as organist of the Castile United Church of Christ.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities he also co-directs the spring musical at Letchworth and is an active performer, appearing in organ recitals in Geneseo, Buffalo and East Aurora in recent years. He is also very involved in several Western New York organizations, currently serving as president of the Genesee Valley School Music Association, Competitions Chair for the Buffalo Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, advisory board member of the Portageville Chapel and president of the Letchworth Central Teachers Association. He resides in the rural community of North Java.
